Fructose Malabsorption - FAQs

Fructose Malabsorption - $182.50

Q: What is Fructose Malabsorption?

A: Fructose is a sugar found naturally in fruits and other foods that is absorbed in the small intestine. Fructose that is not properly absorbed is fermented by the intestinal bacteria producing hydrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide, and short chain-fatty acids.

Q: How can I get tested?

A: Testing can be done at our Beverly location or at home with one of our at-home kits that will be mailed to the customer.

Q: How accurate is this test?

A: The fructose breath test is considerably more accurate than blood tests. However, failing to comply with the testing instructions can cause a false negative test in some cases.

Q: How do I know if I need this test?

A: If you have been diagnosed with IBS in the past and can’t find relief for bloating, nausea, abdominal cramps, and/or gas, this test is perfect for you. Consider discussing a fructose malabsorption test with your doctor.

Q: What should I do if my test is positive?

A: Talk to your care provider about the next steps, particularly if your condition has affected your work or quality of life. Avoid foods with excessive fructose and consider taking other tests to see if you have additional conditions that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Q: What are the ingredients?
A: 25gm of fructose powder.
